If you are seeking rest, renewal and a deeper relationship with God through practicing classic spiritual disciplines, then we hope you will join us at Singing Hills for a a time of “Sanctuary.” This weekend, facilitated by the Reverend Michael McDowell and Lucinda Secrest McDowell, will offer a variety of spiritual growth opportunities, both individually and in community.  Our four teaching sessions are:

“Refuge”–Silence & Solitude: Hearing God’s Voice

“Reflection”–Lectio Divina: Reading God’s Word

“Restoration”–Daily Office: Prayers That Heal & Transform

“Renewal”–Rule of Life: Intentional Living

All adults over 18 are welcome (couples may stay together).

Rev. Michael McDowell (Covenant Seminary and Fuller), has served more than 20 years at First Church of Christ in Old Wethersfield, CT, as associate minister with a variety of responsibilities–Seniors, Small Groups, Adult Education and Discipleship.  A lover of Church History, he also writes, (paints) icons. Lucinda Secrest McDowell (Gordon-Conwell Seminary), is the author of 10 books and Bible studies and enjoys a national speaking ministry through, “Encouraging Words.”  Married for 28 years, Mike and Cindy are the parents of four young adult children who provide them with endless sermon illustrations.  They both enjoy sharing God’s faithfulness and His surprises along life’s journey.

Mother’s Day Sermon

As you can see above, my greatest joy in life is my family and I am privileged to be the MOTHER of (l-r) Fiona, Tim, Justin and Maggie. On Mother’s Day, May 8th, I will be preaching at my home church at all 4 services (8 am, 9:15, 11 traditional and 11 contemporary) – First Church of Christ in Old Wethersfield CT www.FirstChurch.org . My topic is for everyone, not just mothers — “What God Wants You to Know” and my text is II Peter 1.3-8, 12, 15.
